Passport photo

Add a front-facing photo with good light and a plain, light background.

The guides are approximate. Always check the issuing authority's requirements before you submit your photo.

How to make your passport photo

A phone photo and a light-colored wall are all you need.

  1. Take the photo

Face the camera at eye level, in natural light, in front of a white or very light wall. No sunglasses or hat.

  2. Adjust the crop

Choose the document, drag the photo and zoom until your head fills the oval and your chin sits between the two lines.

  3. Download and print

The digital photo works for online applications. The 4 × 6 in sheet prints like a regular photo; then cut out the copies.

Frequently asked questions

Is my photo uploaded to a server?

No. The crop happens inside your browser and FacilDocs never receives your photo.

Where can I print the 4 × 6 in sheet?

At any photo shop, pharmacy photo kiosk or at home on photo paper. Ask for it to be printed at 100%, with no cropping or fitting.

Can I change the background?

This tool doesn't change the background. Take the photo in front of a white or light wall so it meets the requirements.

What resolution is the digital photo?

300 DPI at the document's real size. For example, 600 × 600 pixels for a US passport photo.

Will it definitely be accepted?

The guides help you frame it correctly, but each authority checks the photo. If in doubt, check their official requirements first.
